..::  how to clear the "autocomplete" function in internet explorer ::..

As a frequent contributor to the Google Support Usenet Forum, I frequently see the same question repeated:

"How do I clear the history of the search box when I visit Google (and other websites)."

Many novices mistakenly assume that this is a function of Google, when in fact, it is the "autocomplete" function of Internet Explorer.

If you are talking about the internet explorer setting to clear out forms, in general, then your IE is set to autocomplete forms. This is the "factory" default setting for Internet Explorer.

Follow the following steps to turn off this setting:

  Tools >>
  Internet Options >>
  Content
>>
  Autocomplete >>

now uncheck "forms" and also click on "clear forms".

That's all there is to it.

If you are trying to clear the search history of the Google toolbar, the drop down tab on the toolbar will show you an option to clear the toolbar history.
