Content management systems are the future of large site management. Rather than painstakingly creating an entire site by hand, CMS allows website owners and administrators to modify and create content as simply as editing a word processor document. Currently, electron design is converting a number of our larger website endeavors to CMS using the content management system from TYPO3. TYPO3 is an open source CMS product which has a large degree of flexibility and powerful add-on modules that fit nearly every need and purpose. Unlike some other CMS systems we have reviewed, TYPO3 is very search engine friendly, and can easily be configured allow for the creation of search engine optimized web pages. We hope to have several working websites converted to the TYPO3 content management system in the near future (~ June 2003). Links will be added as appropriate. From adding newsletters, to updating events calendars, the entire site can be modified through a series of web-based forms that even a novice can understand with a minimum of training. |
