Silk-screening, or screen printing is a stencil method of printmaking in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is a relatively inexpensive way to create colorful prints on a variety of surfaces, such as fabric and paper. We have also used the silk-screen process to print messages and company logotypes onto glass. We generally farm out larger work orders to one of our recommended printing firms, but all the prints we do that require a hand-made or artistic look, we do ourselves. It can be a messy process, but it is a fun one too.
